Full-text note search, in-app Quick Preview, and richer folders
Search every line across all your notes, quickly preview media and diagrams in-app, and personalize the sidebar with folder color accents and a wider icon catalog.
New
- Full-text note search. Quick Open now has a dedicated Search mode opened with
⇧⌘For toggled withTab. It indexes your Markdown notes locally and returns line-level snippets that jump straight to the matching line in Source. Searches cover every indexed Location by default, ranked by current folder, then current Location, then everywhere else. - Quick Preview for images and diagrams. Clicking an image, GIF, or rendered Mermaid diagram now opens Cogito's new in-app Quick Preview. This beautiful full-window viewer supports all familiar behaviors like wheel and pinch zoom, drag panning, keyboard zoom and reset, click-outside close, and more. Big quality of life improvement.
Editor
- Customize editor accent color. Settings > Editor now exposes an accent palette for links and other highlighted syntax. Link underlines are also now slightly dimmed so links stay readable but look more polished.
- Preview and source better stay in sync. Toggling between Preview and Source no longer drifts on repeated switches. Handoff now prefers the first readable text at the viewport edge, skipping blank separator lines and list syntax, so you land exactly where you were reading.
- Tweaked inline backgrounds tied to text. Highlights and inline code backgrounds no longer balloon when you increase Editor line height and look more precise.
Sidebar
- Folder color accents. Folders and Location roots now support color accents from the folder customization sheet. The color tints folder and file glyphs, the Location breadcrumb, and Favorites, so larger trees are easier to scan.
- Broader folder icon catalog. Folder customization adds many more curated SF Symbols across themes like recipes, family, science, roadmap, and AI.
- Snappier folder disclosure. Clicking the disclosure chevron now reveals rows faster.
Fixed
- Pinned notes survive external rewrites. External editors and sync engines that replace a pinned note at the same path no longer drop the pin. Sidebar order and Quick Open ranking stay attached to the replacement note.
- Sequoia launch crashs work continues. Worked around a SwiftUI command-group initializer that could crash on recent macOS 15 builds, so app menus and shortcuts remain available at launch.
- Calmer empty Quick Open. The empty state in Quick Open is tighter and quieter when there is nothing to show yet.
